I have seen plenty of things being compared to each other that I'm sick of seeing being compared, so I decided to make this meme to express my opinions about it, and say why I think people should stop doing this shit already.
#5. Ginga Densetsu Weed and Wolf's Rain
I don't understand why people compare these two in the first place. Clearly, they're not even about the same freaking ANIMAL. One is about DOGS, and the other is (obviously) about WOLVES. (unless it's because they're both about canines, then I'm not sure) Other than that, their stories and characters are COMPLETELY different. Ginga is about dogs fighting in wars against bears and other enemies to protect their homeland and Wolf's Rain is about an alternate universe where wolves can take on the form of humans and are trying to look for paradise. I am really sick of going on GDW-related videos and seeing dumb comments saying "omg, is this anime like Wolf's Rain? I luv wolves and that anime!" What I hate the MOST is those crossover videos such as "Ginga dogs vs. Wolf's Rain wolves" or "Weed vs. Kiba" or something where they show scenes of the characters fighting and put the clips together to make them look like they're fighting with each other.
#4. My Little Pony: Friendship is Magic and Littlest Pet Shop (2012)
I have only seen ONE full episode of LPS 2012 and I don't find ANY similarity of it to MLP: FIM other than the fact that it 1) has some of the same voice actors MLP does 2) is made by Hasbro and based off a toy line 3) airs on the Hub. Especially considering the fact that Zoe Trent has a similar color scheme to Twilight Sparkle. Just ENOUGH with comparing these two. They are completely different characters with different personalities. I hate it when people compare two entire things as an entity just because of some small aspects.
#3. Kimba the White Lion/Jungle Emperor Leo and the Lion King
This I should say is more forgiving since there's a large amount of similarities to TLK and Kimba, BUT this controversy has just been going on for freaking FOREVER. I STILL have seen people comparing the two in fucking 2013, and the Lion King came out at least 20 years ago! I don't care, and I still don't even KNOW if Disney intentionally did it! They themselves said it's just a coincidence how their movie is so similar to Jungle Emperor Leo, but others have said it was a lie. I don't know, I don't care. This stuff happened LONG ago, can we just put it behind us now? In fact, I actually think it was more of a possibility that it could have been just a coincidence. If you look at the really early concepts for TLK, it's REALLY different from the final product AND from Kimba, so I really don't think the origins of the movie was supposed to be some Kimba remake. But aside from that, this has just gotten really old, and I think it should stop.
Again, this is something that people like to compare entirely just because of small details. I don't know whether it's because they're both Disney princess movies, or if Rapunzel and Flynn made a cameo, or if Anna really looks like Rapunzel. I think it's still stupid to compare these two movies just because of those. And also, I don't think that these two movies take place in the same universe just because Rapunzel and Flynn appeared for a second in Frozen. Disney and Pixar have put many random cameos in their movies for a long time, and I'm pretty sure it's just a normal thing for them to do now, and Frozen is no exception. Honorable mentions:
previous MLP generations and MLP: Friendship is Magic
Ginga Nagareboshi Gin and Ginga Densetsu WeedFelidae
Avatar: the Last Airbender and Narutothe Lion King
and the Land Before Time
and the top two things I am sick of seeing being compared is...
#1. Avatar: the Last Airbender and the Legend of Korra
My god.. Never before have I seen anything be so unfairly compared since the comparison of GNG and GDW. Yes, I KNOW that LOK is the sequel to ATLA, but I am just SICK of looking at Korra-related stuff and seeing people say "this doesn't feel like Avatar!", "this doesn't do the same thing as Avatar does", "Korra's not like Aang!", "Korra doesn't have enough flashbacks!" etc. Really? Korra does NOT need to depend on ATLA to be its own series. Hell, even in the Season 2 finale of Korra it teaches a lesson that you shouldn't try too hard to be someone else, and that's just what people are trying to make LOK. You guys never give it a chance to be its own entity. You just constantly keep comparing it to its predecessor and want it to be the same as the old series just because of nostalgia. Well, if Korra was just the EXACT same thing as ATLA, then the whole series would have just been really repetitive and predictable. In my opinion, one good thing that the Legend of Korra does that most sequels don't do is not completely rehash the first series, and it sounds like you guys are just asking for that! Also, I find it the most fucking pathetic how people say they only watch Korra to see references to the first series. Wow, so you watch an entire series NOT for the current characters and plot, but you only want to see it because of 5-second character appearances from ATLA. Gee, so much for being called the Legend of KORRA. Why don't we just rename this whole series the Legend of CAMEOS, then?
